Have you ever wondered if there is a place in Europe where every day of the year feels like summer? Look no further! Tenerife is the place to be! You get sunshine 365 days in a year! You heard it right. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this volcanic island. In this article, I will tell you all about my holiday including detailed itinerary and travel tips in the magnificent island of Tenerife. I paid approximately ยฃ600 for 4 days along with my friends. This is a travel itinerary made for a group of 5 friends because it’s always fun and less expensive to travel with friends. Here is a summary of our trip:

Itinerary
The currency in Tenerife is in Euros. Prices here are rounded off in the GBP equivalent at that time (summer 2024). The total spent is per person. It doesn’t reflect current prices as you are reading this now.
The temperature on the island in that late summer was up to 27ยฐC. It never rained and the sun was up from 6 in the morning ’till about 8 in the evening. It was cooler nearer the ocean where we were staying.
Flight and Arrival
The flight from Gatwick Airport left past 7 in the morning and running a bit late. It was heavily raining. According to the aviation announcement that day, we had to wait for a confirmation from the flight control to confirm take-off. Flights to Tenerife takes 4 hours. Upon arrival, we passed through security and made our way to the exit. Our accommodation is located near Playa de las Americas and takes about 45 minutes by bus. Titsa buses operate around Tenerife and are quite cheap as well. There is also uber if you prefer private transport.
The bus stop going towards Los Cristianos/ Costa Adeje is just in front of the airport. Bus 40 at Stand 32 takes you there. It cost about ยฃ3 depending on exchange rate for a one-way fare to the city centre. We stopped at Zentral Center bus stop and made our way towards the hotel.
This is the Titsa bus route on the island. The Aeroexpress (Airport Bus) takes you towards the Costa Adele in the South and Santa Cruz and La Laguna towards the north. You can see the Bus Timetable from this link. Alternatively, you can use google maps.
Accommodation
We booked a three bedroom apartment with the view of the ocean called Parque Santiago III Official (ad link) through Booking.com. It was almost ยฃ800 for 5 of us for a 3-night stay. Booking through this website often allows people to level up and get significant discounted prices on accommodation. The apartment is an 8- minute walk from the bus stop. Here is a mini map of the beaches.
Day 1
We arrived after lunch time in the apartment. We needed to eat lunch so we decided to stroll along the coastline of the south. There are so much restaurant that you can choose from and a variety of cuisines too. We settled at a restaurant in front of Playa de las Vistas serving Spanish cuisine. We have to taste the famed paella and tapas in town.
Out of all the restaurants that we’ve been to in the island our favourite was Sal Negra Tenerife. Aside from having great views of the ocean, the staff were also very friendly. Language was not a problem as they speak English well too. We’ve been having paella every night and we love the flavours of paella in this restaurant. Our next choice is the El Poncho Restaurant just below Sal Negra. I noticed among all the restaurants that a big plate of paella cost an average of ยฃ30. It is good for sharing for two or three. We always order two plates as a group.
After our late lunch, we decided to walk along the coast to see all these beaches.
From Los Cristianos Beach, we walked leisurely towards Playa Del Bobo, taking in the views and enjoying the sun. It took us more than an hour for this route. We were supposed to walk all the way towards Playa Del Duque but we got tired and decided to swim. I think the best views of the sunset is Playa de las Vistas.
Day 2
This day is planned for going up to Mt. Teide. It is still an active volcano and at the height of 3, 715 meters, it is considered as the highest point in Spain and is the third highest volcanic structure in the world.
Permit towards the summit needs to be prebooked 3 months in advance for free. You can book through their portal here: Parque Nacional Teide. However, if you did not manage to prebook well in advance, there are still ways to get to the summit through their partner Volcano Teide Website which starts at ยฃ75/person depending on your choice. Alternatively, you can book this through GetYour Guide (ad link).
I did not manage to book 3 months in advance so we booked through GetYourGuide online. The good thing about booking through this platform is that you get to be picked up near the accommodation. The nearest pick- up point from the accommodation is at Hotel Best Tenerife which is about a 5- minute walk from the apartment.
I will write more about our Mt. Teide adventure in the next blog so stay tuned and follow our Facebook page: Suroysulat. In the meantime, you can browse some photos here:
Day 3
I booked a Complete Island Tour for us on the third day including the popular little town in the mountains, Masca which I booked through GetYour Guide. The picture shows the places we visited.
We were picked up in front of the Best Hotel Tenerife by a bus with a capacity of more or less 50 people by my count. The trip took about 6 hours and we were able to explore the historical sites of Tenerife which I marked with a star on the map above. We started the journey at Candelaria, then to La Orotava in Puerto dela Cruz, Garachico, Masca, and back to Costa Adeje.
I will be writing a separate blog for this as it is such an interesting tour.
Day 4
This is our last day in Tenerife and we would not leave out the best waterpark in the world! Yes, you heard it right! According to TripAdvisor, Siam Park in Tenerife has been voted as the Best Waterpark in the World!
There is a free bus which picks you up from convenient location around the South coast. All you need to do is show your confirmed ticket to the driver. I have bought my ticket online so I showed the digital ticket to the driver. Tickets can be printed out too. The ticket cost about ยฃ35 (depending on the exchange rate at the time) from the Official Siam Park Website. Similarly, you can buy the tickets from GetYourGuide Siam Park Entry Tickets (ad link).
I will be writing more of our Tenerife adventure in my next blog so follow our Facebook Page: Suroysulat. Thank you and I hope you read again the next article!
